I got two CDs full of songs ripped onto an iPod this past weekend, but I don't know the names of any of the songs. I think Zen said he had a list of all the songs? Or maybe Linda knows which songs were on the two CDs she gave Fielding?

Here's the list for the CD that had 25 tracks.  It's two albums and an extra song.  Give me a few minutes and I can type up a list for the Compass Rose, Live at the Bridgetender CD.

None of those lists matched the songs that I have found. I've been googling the lyrics to figure out what all of these songs are. I recognize some of them, but I'm thankful for google.

You must have "The Basement Tapes" . . . Linda said something about them the last time I was over there.  It was a bunch of songs Compass Rose recorded in someone's basement.  I don't have a copy of that one.  It's a bunch of good songs (and a couple I've never heard of).

Paridise is one of my favorites.

Today was a tribute to David at Bug-A-Paluza. It was great! Thank you to all our friends and family who were there. Thanks to Fielding, Rick, Herb and Zen - I know you miss him almost as much as I do! He was there with us and I am sure, thoroughly approved!!!  I really appreciate all that everyone in the Volks Folks has done.  This is the best group of people to be a part of!!

When things would get quite around here, David would usually find a way to "stir the pot" a little.  So, here's one of Compass Rose's songs to stir things up a little.  Enjoy!  (by the way, I can use more pictures of David if anyone has some!)

Happy Birthday David!

[ Invalid YouTube link ]

"Auld Lang Syne" (Scots pronunciation: [ˈɔːl(d) lɑŋˈsəin]: note "s" rather than "z") is a Scots poem written by Robert Burns in 1788 and set to the tune of a traditional folk song (Roud # 6294). It is well known in many countries, especially in the English-speaking world, its traditional use being to bid farewell to the old year at the stroke of midnight. By extension, it is also sung at funerals, graduations and as a farewell or ending to other occasions. The international Boy Scout youth movement, in many countries, uses it as a close to jamborees and other functions.

The song's Scots title may be translated into English literally as "old long since", or more idiomatically, "long long ago", "days gone by" or "old times". Consequently "For auld lang syne", as it appears in the first line of the chorus, might be loosely translated as "for (the sake of) old times".

The phrase "Auld Lang Syne" is also used in similar poems by Robert Ayton (1570–1638), Allan Ramsay (1686–1757), and James Watson (1711) as well as older folk songs predating Burns. Matthew Fitt uses the phrase "In the days of auld lang syne" as the equivalent of "Once upon a time..." in his retelling of fairy tales in the Scots language.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne*?

CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely ye’ll be your pint-stowp!
and surely I’ll be mine!
And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

CHORUS
We twa hae run about the braes,
and pu’d the gowans fine;
But we’ve wander’d mony a weary fit,
sin auld lang syne.

CHORUS
We twa hae paidl’d i' the burn,
frae morning sun till dine;
But seas between us braid hae roar’d
sin auld lang syne.

CHORUS
And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere!
and gie's a hand o’ thine!
And we’ll tak a right gude-willy waught,
for auld lang syne.

CHORUS
