loss of power solved kinda

« on: May 18, 2012, 10:24:55 PM »
so my 1.8 turbo started loosing power like some one stole the turbo ! having only started driving car this week new to me it was running pretty good then bam no power but still running smooth so took by buddys shop to pull codes and i think every code that had ever been on car was still in it. dont know what they were just to many and kinda in a hurry cleared codes.so drove car and retested after 30 miles.two codes came up 1st was cat. converter in effective 2nd a/c charge to high. so the exhaust was rattling so we figured cat was coming apart.cut it out and coming apart was undestatement.was pluged up with all the broken pieces so knocked out the junk and put it back in the car hollow.still drove the same no power.and the ABS light has been on during this whole process the car needs brakes bad but have to wait till payday.i work on rvs for a living and sometimes when they have brake issues they will go into limp in mode with no power.so i tried taking battery cable off bug to reset and it worked power back ran great for 10 miles then back into limp in mode.have done this three times with same results.
if there is an issue with the brakes and maybe bad ABS sensors will this throw it into limp in mode???
im hoping this is the case

Try unplugging the abs,  usaully it does not affect the ECM though ,  also check for vacuum leaks at the turbo ,

What kind of car,  you can unplug at the module under the hood over the driver side wheel well near the washer resivoir on the passat and under the brake booster on beetles golf and jetta,  sounds kinda like a bad turbo solenoid,  no faults returned after limp mode?

If the computer doesn't like what it sees it will limit the power ,  also could be the boost sensor

ok so went out looking for the abs plug and noticed a plug on the tray above the battery that was unplugged well pulled out far enough that it was not making contact. plugged it back in and all abs brake lights are off ;D but still has loss of power so disconnected the bat will let sit awhile then recheck..

N75 valve is what Travis was referring to earlier. Any irregular idle? Try unplugging the maf (right off the air box) while the car is running and drive it again. If you regain some power it's a bad or dirty maf, if it's the same likely it's a bad hose or valve in the boost regulation circuit.
