ECU swap on a 2005 VW passatt 1.8 Turbo

« on: June 04, 2012, 11:09:39 AM »
I think that may ECU may be bad and I would like to install a used ECU that I bought for $50 to see if it will fix the problem that my car is having. I know that the ECU has an immobilizer and needs to be reprogramed by the dealer. Does anyone have the tools needed and access to the immobilizer code to get this other ECU working for me. I would happily pay someone to do it for me. I would like to avoid taking it to a dealership if possible. I can be contacted at KludgeMechanic@gmail.com

I also have a code that was on the car keys when the car was bought new if those codes are needed.

Never mind. I found a guy that will do a Immo Defeat for $40 + shipping. That sure beats the dealers cost. If anyone else ever needs to swap there ECU and needs to bypass the Immo let me know and I will provide contact info.
