cabrio fans wont stop until the battery runs down

have a 99 cabrio that the fans stay on after the switch is turned off. I tried unplugging the sensor on the radiator and the fans keep going. If i unplug the fan module with the 8 pin connector they stop running. i checked the wiring diagram and am not sure what would keep the fans running. while the car is cold and running the fans do not stay on, they do come on when the ac is turned on.

sounds like the module itself has gone bad, that J103, I have a spare or two you are welcome to try,

The sensor in the radiator is working if it is coming on, it sounds like the relay is sticking or something, the temp sensor will tell it to shut down but if the relay is not disconnecting its not the sensors fault.

if the module is bad i would think that it would still run after i unplugged the 8 pin connector, when i unplug it the relay clicks and the fans go off with the 4 pin connector still plugged in.

the part number on the module is 357 919 506a

I'd try the relay then. If it doesn't work, just take it back.

the relay is part of the module and most places will take returns on electrical stuff
