2010 JETTA TDI - going into Limp Mode

« on: January 08, 2013, 05:31:19 PM »
Good Afternoon,

Hoping for some direction here as I have a 2010 Jetta TDI going into Limp Mode occasionally. Started about a month ago and probably went a few weeks without it happening at all. Glow Plug Light comes on and you can feel decrease in power. Pull over to side of road and turn engine off..then back on and warning light and Limp Mode disappear. I recently got a new fuel filter. Anybody have any ideas on what would be causing it? I've noticed it happening a few times as I reach the crest of a hill oddly enough. I've never tangled with a VW engine but am somewhat capable with american made cars. Is there a local shop in Chattanooga area worth dealing with that isn't going to rob me blind in the process?

Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Starting off your 1st post with negative coments about the local VW dealer that sponsers our show is not the best start.  You need to start by checking engine fault codes and checking the quality of your fuel.  There are some shops that deal with european cars such as eurasain, the one on signal mountian and rick mcashan (sp) on 58

MIL light is now on....just need guidance on where to take it....anybody have experience dealing with Village VW on repairs? If so, would you recommend them?

Thanks

Technically, he didn't really say anything negative about the local VW shop. He was asking if there was one that was not going to rob him blind. Sorry for the input, but I thought that should have been cleared up.   :yellowthing:

Still need to tread lightly... you never know when the guy who probably worked on it at the dealership be the one responding to your post...

I agree, you probably need to find out what the code its throw is. If this occurred quickly after the service done by the dealership, contact the service manager that took care of you; it might be related. A connection might be loose or something simple. If its related to the service (i.e. happened the week afterwards or something), then you might get them to at least run the engine code for free.  You'll need to know what the code is before anyone can hone in on what's wrong.

Travis listed some of the shops. You can browse the list that is linked on the bottom of our home page: http://www.volksfolks.org/vwshops

So, when was it wrong to try and save someone money? I'm sorry if I am being rude. But, if the guy at the dealership 'robbed him blind' from fixing his car, obviously he wouldn't be posting and trying to save the dealerships image. ;)

He only had the service done at the dealer,  pretty sure that he modified his original post and has not updated any progress
