1.8 turbo valve question

so got the 01 beetle running its been sitting for 9 months changed the oil right away.question i have is seems like the upper end seems little ticky for lack of better words  ;D nothing major is there any adjustments on these engines? 1.8 turbo never fooled with these before thanks...

If the oil is not changed regularly the pick up tube can become clogged and and reduce oil pressure,  I recommend factory oil filter and synthetic oil,  also the cam chain tensioner can make noise if it is worn,  I will tick for a while if it has been sitting

hey travis can the pan be pulled in the car to clean the pick up?

Yes you can remove the pan pretty easy, just a couple of hidden bolts between the engine and transmission in little holes you have to use a long extension and a wobble to get to

ok pulled pan tonight everything looks good couple of very small pieces of rubber in pick up tube screen but no sludge...

Use synthetic oil and drive it,  check the faults for any timing faults,

ok all back together no problems put snthetic oil and mobil one filter all good.....

the ticking i was hearing is the fuel injectors still doing it are they suppose to sound like a sewing machine? seem little loud

Sorry,  it is kinda hard sometimes to give good advice without seeing or hearing the car,  but know you have piece of mind,  the 1.8 is a good motor if you change the oil on it,  we see so many abused,  also the timing belt is real important,  they should be changed about every 80 k or when they are shinny and cracked
