Nice meeting you all

« on: July 06, 2012, 10:39:37 PM »
It was great meeting all of you tonight at the cruise in. The bug made it home to Soddy daisy a little faster than it took me getting to the sonic  thanks to nick finding my "lower power" issue in 2.3 seconds. That was a lesson well learned and 4 cylinders is definitely better than 3. The bug is still over heating though- I will check the timing and valves ASAP and post an update on my results. Thanks for the help and the hospitality from you all. We had a great time and look forward to getting together at the next event. Thanks again.
Kevin and Steph Gabor.

Nice to meet you too.

I found this video to explain the valve adjustment process. The actual adjustment isn't as tricky as finding and marking top dead center and rotating the engine to the next position. There are short cuts to adjust the valves with fewer turns of the engine, but learn the basics first!

Also, don't forget that the timing light should be applied after the valves are check and the engine has warmed up. 32degrees Before top dead center at full advance (whatever RPMs you want to dispute that it happens at).

This video goes over verifying TDC and how to adjust the timing

I also attached the pulley mark chart to help you, or anyone else, identify which pulley they have and what those marks mean.
