One of our long time club memebers, Bob Cox, recently put his 72 Super Beetle up for sale. If I'm not mistakien, he bought it new, and I believe it had a complete restoration a few years ago. You'll find cheaper ones, but if you have to go through the engine, transmission, have it painted, replace the interior, replace the brakes . . . it can ad up in a hurry.
On the other hand, if you don't mind getting your hands dirty and putting in some blood, sweat and tears, there's nothing like the feeling of accomplishment when you pull a junker out of the weeds and turn it into a nice ride. I got into VWs about 20 years ago with a $125 71 Beetle Father/Son project. A year later we had 20 VWs in the back yard.
