Vagcom

« on: February 13, 2012, 10:18:31 AM »
I have been working on my 2005 VW passat 1.8 It is missfiring ver bad at idle. I have replaved the PCV valve as the spring and plate was missing out of it. I also took the intake off and went through the entire PCV system. Replaced all the coilpacks, sparkplugs, Crankcase breather valve, Crankcase breather tube, Purge valve, temp sensor, camshaft positioning sensor, cleaned the trottle body and fuel injectors as well as changing the fuel filter.

The car still misfires at idle and I would like to to a trottle body adaptation but dont have a Vagcom. If someone in the Chattanooga area would let me use theirs to do the trottle body adaptation and maybe some diagnotics I would appreciate it very much. You can contact me at Kludgemechanic@gmail.com

I have a guy at work that has one.
He lives in Dalton, GA.
If you cannot find anything closer, he could probably do it for you.
PM me a phone # and I'll forward it to him.

I sent him your info.
He's a pretty good guy, but I cannot guarantee he will do it though.
I have a 2004 B5.5 Variant and have been thinking of getting a Vagcom, but not gonna happen until I sell something.

Ya Im in the same boat. $250 is a little steep. We should start a thread and get a lot of people to sign up saying that they would buy one. Then we could contact RossTech and see if we could get a goup discount.

You need to do a compression check     And possibly a leak down test,  most cases adapting the throttle body usually does not cure misfires,  does the car have throttle faults?

I have done a leakdown test and it did not leak at all. I have heard of Sal. I think he is in Chickamauga. I have been looking for his number. Thanks!

It doesn't happen very often but sometimes the regulator will leak into the vacuum part and let fuel into the intake ,  just pull the vacuum hose loose and check for fuel
