« on: February 04, 2013, 07:47:47 PM »
Working on a 93 5 cyl eurovan manual shift,  when warm it has no power,  a bunch of parts have already been replaced ,  is there an adjustment on the air intake temp sensor?  Idles smooth

No adjustment on the air temp sensor.  What parts have already been replaced?  What are the DTCs?  If you check it with the engine off you'll probably have an engine speed sensor fault but you can ignore that.

Check the color of the spark from the coil.  Check the plugs and see if they're fouled.  Check the O2 sensor and see if it's working.

Oh, and clean the grounds.

It was a bad ground on the block.  Had one on a 2013 gti that would randomly cut out and had misfire codes,  loose ground from the factory one the frame horn behind the air pump

Yes,  after working with dubtech I not only hate it when a bad ground bites me in the a$$,  I also think of him and always "check the grounds",  I was about to replace an abs module on a car a couple months ago,  check power,  put the dso scope and watch the can bus wires,  thought I had a bad module but ended up being a ground in the a pillar under the carpet

Many years ago I read an article that said 90% of weird electrical problems are ground problems.  When I was at the dealer I always thought the percentage was higher.

The only real exception I saw was the MK IV 1.8T cars with throttle body/throttle pedal faults which almost always turned out to be caused by a bad charging system.

Glad you got it fixed Travis.
