I'm not even going to guess on the value, but my son had a 98 Beetle with a 2.0.  It was a salvage car when he bought it with about 20,000 miles.  The engine had been replaced in the salvage, so it might of had more miles than the car.  Last I knew of it, it had over 250,000 miles on it, still ran great and didn't smoke or burn oil.  He bought it when he was 19 . . . later on he took care of it, but the first 100,000 miles or so it saw a LOT of abuse.  Those engines are tough as nails.

It's a lot easier to use the 2.0 engine from the 93-99 Golf/Jetta than it is to use the later 2.0.

I would say 500 on the engine,  I would also recommend leaving it in the car so someone can hear it run, my buddy just bought one, got it I and the bearings were shot,  no oil pressure

Thanks, my car is screaming at 85.  That is all the speedo has on it, and it is only achievable downhill in the interstate...

I'm alittle late on the subject but it isn't terrible to put your motor in a rabbit chassis.

You will need a drivers side mount adapter from someone like Wrd or nls. After that, it's a 99 so it's drive by cable tb, you can use a mk1 style exhaust manifold and buy/make a spacer for the downpipe (taller block than the original 8vs). Your biggest headache is wiring it in, which isn't so bad once you reduce the spaghetti to a manageable harness. They make great power in a rabbit, and you can use your original transmission with it. Zero cutting of the car chassis, i have a few notes on the wiring you could borrow.
