Yep.  Will you be home Saturday morning?  And is it towable with a Beetle tow bar?

Just tell me what time and it would be towable if you bring a 5 lug wheel and tire with you

Anytime after sun-up and before noon on Saturday works for me.  I'll see if I can hunt up a wide 5 wheel with and tire that holds air.  I should have at least one somewhere.

Around 9:00 works. The tire that leaks may stay up long enough for you to get home

I went. I looked. I liked. I own.

It's not quite like anything I've ever seen before.  It's built on a shortened pre-65 pan (haven't looked up VIN yet).  The package tray and front firewall/inner fenders are cut out of Beetle and the rest is custom fabricated from fairly heavy sheet metal.  Needs some rust repair in a few places, but overall it's fairly straight and really solid.  The fenders, running boards and engine cover are all rolled under at the edges and it's a fairly heavy guage metal.  We found a state of Kentucky issued ID plate rivited to the inner fender up under the dash when we were hooking up the tow bar.  The windshield is cracked . . . I'm not sure what it came out of, but it's flat so it shouldn't be too expensive.  The windshield frame folds down flat like an old Jeep (maybe that's what the windshield is out of?).  I think I'm going to try to find or make some vinyl covers and install the 96 Passat seats in it.  Or I could just install some old Beetle seats since the original seat rails are still in good shape.  I think the floors can be patched . . . if not, they will be easy enough to fabricate from some heavy guage steel.  It should be a fun project.  If nothing else, maybe I'll learn to weld by the time it's over.

I made a bunch of pictures but I can't get my card reader to work and I can't find the USB cable for my camera.

It's kind'a, sort'a close to an EMPI Sportster, but it's not.  The sportsters had more angular fenders and no running boards.  I'm searching the internet for another one like it . . . so far I haven't found one.

This one is kind'a close on the fenders and running boards . . . but way off on the hood and grill.   http://www.dunebuggyarchives.com/forum/topic_show.pl?tid=2189

You gonna park this one next to the other buggy you have?

If you didn't jump, I was going to. I hope you do something with it. If not, I'll offer you half what you paid!!!   :D :D

I might need some parts off the other buggy.  If I don't, I'll sell it to you cheap.  It has the potential to be a cool buggy, but it needs a LOT more work than this one.

The chassis VIN dates the pan to October 1962.  So it started life as a 1963 Beetle.
