My very first bus was a 1970 Deluxe that had a partial Westy interior in it.

Still one of my favs.  I like early Bays. Glad you got this one.  I was seriously thinking about it when Casey offered them up, but I have come to realize that one (or two  :-[) projects at one time are enough for me.....  ;D

How many is this for you now?   :D

this is only 2-1/2 buses, but I have many many many projects.

Still have to decide what Penelope's fate will be. And I have a bunch of random '78 parts around the house.

The projects still include Bonnie, Penelope, now Trixie, my little boat, a dirtbike, an older Yamaha bike, a half built trike at my parents house, my house, plus about a thousand smaller projects that squeeze in everywhere else! I am thinking I'll really start making some progress when I retire.

I guess...

(Edit: I was going to go to craigslist and post an ad for something else to play into the ADD comment... but craiglist is censored.)

Anyways, could you identify the tool?!?!?

It sort of looks like the VW end play tool.  This thing maybe could be used for setting in play. You will need a dial indicator to see.  Not a VW/vendor made tool.  VW used Matra or Zelindra(?) made tools. VW/usa made tool# started with a "W". The thing you have looks after-market and a bit crude.   Is the bolt hole the same dia. as the engine mounting bolt ?

I do belive that's one of kc old bus he had ? Looks like fun!

The guy you bought the bus from is Rob (Obviously you know this), and he sold a bunch of parts at bugapaluza last year. Probably will this year too. Great guy and great bus! Congrats on your purchase! It is a solid bus indeed!

Well, I've owned Trixie for a month and finally went camping in her! I rushed to get all the windows swapped out and had new seals for everything behind the front seats except for the slider because I wanted to put a Jalousie window in. While I was at it... I kinda got to changing the color a little bit... it's no longer green...its a little red...

I got off early on Friday and called a guy I had exchanged emails with regarding a camper interior. He had a 73 bus that they swapped a turbocharged saturn set up in it and lost the floor space to put the camper interior back in. So I picked up his entire bus interior (seat, side cabinet, sink, buddy seat, headbanger and child's cot). While I was there, I grabbed up another Jalousie window for the slider (just need a new seal now!).

I ran home from that transaction and threw everything in the bus that I could fit (some of it will need to be made-to-fit). Got the bed propped in there and headed out to go camping. I spent last night sleeping like a baby and the new window seals didn't think about leaking! It was so much  better than tent camping!

Here's a teaser picture of the front end:

Thanks! Its certainly getting there. I have really enjoyed getting this one going and driving it.

I've been entertaining the idea of getting the right tires and I've seen a lot of info on the 14" wheels, but what do people get for the 15s? I'm guessing somewhere in the 195/65/15 size, and I'm looking for something in the 1,500lbs rating, but does anyone know a surefire cheap option? I really need to at least get a spare...

If I remember, Hankook makes the 195R15's as well.

I looked but couldn't find any last night. Seems like they might have made some but they all are listed in foreign currency.

Sweet! Yeah I drove the bus to school and work yesterday. It was so much fun and she ran like a champ!
