Some improvements to Sweet Pea

« on: March 16, 2010, 08:59:58 PM »
It has been a busy week working on Sweet Pea!  The camper top mold was killing me (probably literally), the tent was torn and rotten, a headlight was out and the worn seat pads had worn their welcome.  Sure there are a few other jobs on my list, but with an upcoming camping trip I had to move the camper top restoration up on the priority list.

So with a great deal of toil I reconditioned the seat springs/frames, re-sewed the split seams in the seat covers and installed new pads.  Ahhh!

Then I removed and cleaned the fiberglass top, primed and painted it, replaced the rubber and decals and then installed a new tent!  Whew!!

I also installed and aimed my new Hella halogen lights.  Got a deal.  That was the easiest part.

Just thought I'd share some pictures cause, well, I'm feelin' proud of her.

Looks great, you are braver than I for removing and reinstalling the poptop and canvas.

Looks awesome!  Sometimes it is the small things that matter, although that was a big thing!

Thanks!  Hands down, the biggest improvement is the smell!!!  That and the lack of springs digging into my arse!  It is unbelievable how much killing the mold, replacing the tent and washing the mattress cover has changed the atmosphere in Sweet Pea!  Air fresheners used to only last a day or so before succumbing to the mold spores.  Them days are gone!

What a great job! Makes me ashamed of LOLA and her dirty pop top. I want to see her in person.

Gosh,  I need a bus. Your looks great.   Did the canvas have like 786 phillips screws to take out?   I still have carpal tunnel from removing canvas off an old bus I had.  It was before power screw drivers
