pop up to high top conversion...???

« on: October 01, 2013, 01:18:30 PM »
i like the high top i see on some Bays.  is it physically possible to merly take my pop up top off and put a high top on??? ish

i would not (if given a choice) not be cutting the  roof.  but instead using the tin portions (front and back) for various storage options and so forth.

Nick probably knows more about this than most of us here, since he's done it (but he cut his roof).  I don't see any reason why you couldn't put a hightop on a sunroof or pop top bay.

I put a high top on a tin top so it requires cutting. If I had had a sunroof or westy, it would have been perfect!!! There is a bus with a cool story on the samba where a couple replaced their westy top back when the bus was new and then took it all over the world. I think the bus goes by the name "Kermit."

If you can find a hightop roof, I highly recommend it! They can be expensive or hard to find. Sometimes they are thousands of miles away too. Good luck and let me know if I can help!

in all seriousness, you might be able to find out about shipping it via a car carrier or someone who does small scale transports...
