New to me 1973 Ghia...

« on: September 08, 2009, 10:34:13 AM »
Yesterday was an eventfull day - In the morning I tracked down anther 4 lug steel wheel and had a new set of 185 65 R15's mounted on them and headed out to the central area of nowhere'sville Alabama.  I looked over the ghia and made an offer and it was mine.  I put the new rubber on and towed it back to home at a nice 60 mph all the way ( I do like hwy 72.)  I stopped twice to check the bearings and they were cool all the way home.

Any way I'll have photos tommorow (it was raining when I got home...) and I'll be hitting up every one for some info as I go along.

I know that it needs the spare tire / nose bottom as well as the floor pans to be repaired / replaced.

Thanks,
KC :D

I may have already told you this, but Brent Floyd had a set of full floor pans he bought several years ago for his Thing.  He sold the Thing before he got around to getting them installed.  Things and Ghias use the same pans.  The last time I talked to him, he still had them.  If you are interested in them, I've got his cell #, or you can just email him at work.

Thought I'd show it off a little.  Cell Phone Pix, sorry for the low quality...

Spare tire pan is toast and there is some skimming on the nose, don't see any dents on the inside, so it has to have been a light repair

Rust under the rear bumper...both corners.

Front driver's fender has 2 dents, can get to them from below to knock out, hood has a light flat spot on it.
