Go for the full suit.

I saw that and was leaning toward getting one made, but unless I am playing golf, I cannot get into plaid pants... and I hate golf.
Maybe a kilt and sport coat?
Hummmmm....

Ok,
Bus drives and STOPS great now!!!
Just gotta get the tires replaced, and It'll be ready for the ever increasing radius journeys that I use to "prove out" an automobile.
OK, during my recient drive to the Gas station, I noted the the odometer has ceased to work, speedo is great, just no odo...  I used to have an odo that worked so it has died in its previous 10 miles of travel.

-I need to fix the ODO at some point in time, is this possible?
- I need to find a set of tires, the best that I have been able to find was at the Tilden Tire in Fort O. - Hankook RA08 8 ply 185R14's   Has any one else found a good deal on the CORRECT tires in the tristate area reciently?

'Prechiate it.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes.jsp?make=Continental&model=Vanco+2

They look and feel great. D load rating. Plus they gave him a $75 visa card for his purchase.

I will call him when he gets out of school and ask him how he got that. You might have to call and ask.

Okey day,
Time for an update.  I got the front and rear brakes all replaced and got it running well enough to camp at BAP.  I had to replace one outter bearing and put on a new muffler.  Ran OK but had been going down hill the past 200 miles or so. I have replaced just about all the stuff under the hood and had noted the tailpipe was pretty sooty.  I chalked it up to the blown out muffler and lack of back pressure on the engine.  Well tonight I was replacing a pre filter that I have installed that is getting some varnish in it.  While I was working on the bus I decided I would check the timming and I was running about 5 deg AFTER TDC.  As I fiddled with the distributor, I believe that the advance weights were stuck out some what.  I have readjusted the timming and set it at 32 deg BTDC at highest advance and it is running SOOO much better now and has alot more power.  I was getting a massive 9 mpg and was attributing it to the muffler and the fact that I had an Automatic, but man this thing was WEAK.  I haven't driven it much distance yet, but I can tell a MASSIVE difference.
I am looking forward to driving it tomorrow.

El G - Thanks, It has been a blast to drive these past 2 days, I have ALOT more power than I have had for the past 300 miles or so.

The ODO works the EGR box wasn't tight.
I now have a bus that every light and guage works on (yes, even the gas guage...)
Just gotta get a table top for my table leg (hint hint RALPH S.)
I'll try to get some photos uploaded soon, I have painted the wheels, bumpers, and the top with rustoleum.  It is as easy as the Samba describes.

That EGR box can be a pain, particularly if you don't have EGR anymore. I wonder if there's anywhere you can get just a male-to-male speedometer cable and do away with it completely.

I just took the bulb out of the dash so as not to have to worry when it lights up.
Just a thought.

OK,
I know that this puts my membership in "the family" at risk, but I sold the bus on Saturday.  A guy and his son drove all the way from KS to pick it up.  They are very excited, and I am very excited to take the money and finish paying off my mortgage.  (yea, I own my house...)
Any way I am going to look for another bus to fix up and roll, (It took 8 months to find that one...)  I am looking at a Pre 1976 because of the extra jump seat that means 5 seatbelts and with the new baby comming, I need to get a bus with more seating.
Any way Kermit was fun and will be missed.  But I couldn't turn down a full price offer that gets me completely out of debt...
Still felt sad though.

Hey Casey, that bus I was telling you about at work today is in Chatsworth.  It's a 79 transporter.  It doesn't have a Z Bed . . . just the seats.  The middle seat is in it but not bolted down.  $500 for everything but the tranny and axles.  $425 more with get those.  It's listed in Chattanooga.
