New Arival -Kermy!! (as in Kermit the frog)

« on: October 24, 2008, 09:59:31 AM »
Here is my latest purchase a 1976 Campmobile.  YES IT IS GREEN.  Just got home with it yesterday night and these photos were taken on the trailer at a gas station.  It is perfect on the inside and comes with all the snap on curtans and screens.  There is one major dent on driver's side at the rear tire and some rust in the rockers at the rear wheels.  The enging is a 1970cc type 4 with all the fuel injection in place.  Was running 5 yrs ago but has rotten fuel lines.  That is why he parked it.  Will be asking lotsa q's about the engine ressurection.  The engine was a rebuilt unit from Cali, that cost almost $2k to put in 18 yrs ago.  It only has 19K on the engine since install.  Keeping with ASBug theme it is an AUTOMATIC!   :D  :D Yeah baby!!!
More later.....

I got it outta east ATL - 2 hrs + each way!!!
Had to rent a U-haul and trailer as I had sold my van... :(
Had to be towed 4 wheels off because it is an Automatic or I would have just borrowed a car dolly....
That was a bummer....
But it was still worth it!!!
There were 3 people who were waiting for me not to buy it so they could....
One was calling while I was there!!

Way to go Casey!  :thumbs-up:  Seems like I've seen that bus before . . . it looks a lot like one I looked at somewhere down around Cartersville a few years ago . . . but I don't remember that one having a low milage engine, so maybe it looks familiar because it's a green Westy.  I've seen one or two of them before.  :greenbay:

Looks great! I bought the proper FI fuel line and clamps from http://www.busdepot.com. When I get to a computer I'll tell you exactly what to get.

http://www.germansupply.com/ sells kits to replace every bit of fuel line and rubber in the fuel system. Might be worth looking into as well.

This is the fuel line I got: http://www.busdepot.com./details.jsp?partnumber=N0202811

One meter is more than enough for all the fuel lines, but it's always nice to have extra, too. I also got these: http://www.busdepot.com./details.jsp?partnumber=311133515 They're the solid style hose clamps, very similar to the originals.

Here's the whole kit from German Supply: http://www.germansupply.com/home/customer/product.php?productid=16400&cat=409&page=1

Apparently, '76 uses no steel lines like my '78, so it's a lot more rubber. I didn't realize that.

If you need anything else, let me know. I have some spare parts, and sources for a lot of parts too.
