My son's 1977 Westy Project

« on: March 04, 2009, 10:36:17 AM »
We found this on Craigslist last April. We got it for $700. Have not done mucu to her over the winter but we started back last weekend. Just bought all new brakes for her and can't wait to get them on. Next is fixing the death shake that happens every now and then.

Looking a little rough

The day we bought her

Yea, It looked very sad sitting in his backyard being used for a storage shed. She still needs some work but she is back on the road at least.

Thanks Travis for the help with the new rubber. She looks so much better and feels great on the road. If I can just fix the steering and the blinkers Ethan will be driving her to school.

Painted rims and new rubber

The Vanco 2. It has a D load rating and it is an 8 ply tire

Sounds good.  When I first got my bus it had passanger tires on it.  When I would get hit by a cross wind, I was literally turning the steering wheel as far as if I was turning that direction.  As soon as I slapped on some Vanco 8s and Bilstein shocks.  It was straight as an arrow.  Nobody can push me around anymore! Yea, this one was doing that also. She needs shocks next after I fix the death shake in the steering.

The original Orange color is what Ethan is wanting. Now we just have to find someone who can do a good job for little money. Lockwood said he could do it for us but I don't know.

Lockwood could do it you would have to lock him in room with a can of paint and a sprayer,  i know some other poeple if you had a place to paint it.
