That is a beautiful car. Tell us more about it. You say you're about an hour away, would that be around Monteagle or Winchester?

i live in Estill Springs. its about 5 minutes from Winchester. i'm surprised you haven't heard of it..we have TWO signal lights..
i had two projects i was trying to fix, but like most any vw around here, they were both eat up with rust. i found this 66 on thesamba, couldn't pass it up. has ZERO rust, the battery tray even looks new. motor is 1835 with dual 34 dells. the 17s will be gone by the time it makes it to Chattanooga. i like them, but because of clearance problems, its waaaay too stiff. im an old man and need my comfort. im sticking some polished 5 spokes on it and some soft shocks. i look forward to meeting people at the show. is there usually a good swap meet there? alot of lil things i need.

Bug-A-Paluza has a reputation of having one of if not the BEST swap meets in the southeast. It's not as big as Florida Bug Jam but if we had the room, I feel certain it would probably compare.

You have a very nice looking car. Please don't be mad at me and it is your" coal truck". You can do anything you want to it, but I would have to lose the white fender welting. I think the wheels look really nice.
Welcome aboard and hope meet you at BP-8 :thumbs-up:

thanks bugtech. the white interior will probably go in favor of some black, so i plan on losing the beading as well when i paint it sometime next year. i like the wheels, unfortunately they have to go. i can only take so much of that "buckboard" ride with the stiff shocks. i definitely plan on being at the show, very much looking forward to it. i might bring the wheels and try to sell them. they are GM 4 1/2" pattern if you know of anyone interested. the adapters go too. see ya'll there! (oh, btw, its hard if not impossible to offend me, and im always open for constructive criticism or opinions. there are a million ways to go with these cars, just one of the reasons i love them)

IMHO Bug-A-Paluza is a much better show than Bug-Jam. As the saying goes:"Size is not everything"!!!

That is a real beauty you got there!!!  :thumbs-up:

thanks copper. WOW, 2276, huh? i gather you are one of the people i need to contact when im ready to dump the 1835 and build my killer stroker motor? i've been wrenching on bikes for almost 20 years, kinda leary of this lil flat four. i definitely want to strike up a conversation with ya at Camp Jordan.

        NO NO NO!!! My knowledge of engines is limited to the fact that I know what one is when I see it. Actually that is questionable after the rip off on the Samba on an engine I purchased from Shaine Bowker out in Oregon.  However that aside I can recommend the following:

Body Work/Paint Etc: Charles Overton in Tallapoosa Ga (Overtons Resto)
Not that you need it...

Engine Building: Steve Sands in Hiram Ga at Pro Flow Performance. We used him to build the 2332 we had 2nd and he did work on the 2276 too.

Transaxel: Ronnie Hunter in Powder Springs (In case you want something that won't break under the HP of a bigger engine) Ronnie can build a fine engine too, we used him on the 2017 we had built first.

These are men I have used more than one time. I know others in here can recommend folks closer to you. But I know if you use these folks, you will be satisfied. I will hope to meet you at the show too. I will introduce you to these folks if you would like and you can get to know them.

There is a guy here in beautiful, downtown McDoanld (between Ooltewah and Cleveland) who is also a wizard when it comes to strokers. That would be a little bit closer to you. Whatever you do, you can get a good engine "locally" without going to California or anywhere else out west where you just have a name (and that might not be his real name) with no face to go with it. And usually no recourse when you get the shaft like Copper did.

I agree local IS the way to go...

I'm running a 2275 Pro Flow...But Chico is very good ,attends our east coast shows and backs up what he sells...A #1 guy...for a cali dude...
