my new project

« on: April 19, 2013, 08:26:37 PM »
well I went and did it. We bought our second bug, '67. Its gonna be my project vw. Ive started tinkering on it once we had it home. Its got a lot of goods and bads, but hey "its a project". After I washed it good we pulled it inside. The rear apron is a mess. So, I started to taking it off.
Here is  few pictures as I get started on it.

Nice looking project!   8)

I'm sure you already know, but just in case you don't, 1967 was a one year only deck lid and rear apron.  I bought a 67 parts car once and someone had hacked up the rear apron on it too.  66 and back or 68 and up aprons are a dime a dozen.  It would be nice if folks would hack on those and leave the one year only stuff intact!    ???

yeah, I know. even the underside is trashed. As I removed it, there are anywhere from 1/4 to1/2 inch of filler on the apron. I'll figure out something.

There was a guy at the end of the vendor area today with a '67 deck lid. I didn't ask a price. I do have an original '67 only oil breather though. If you're interested

Ok just a question. I bought me an apron getting it home only to realize that it's a 66 an older. I'm gonna try to see if the guy will give me my money back. Now will this apron fit my 67 and if so will a 66 deck lid fit also. This is pending I. Ant get my money back. Thanks
