i have an allison that came to the us in a shipping container from austria.it is a 1966 and all the componants.1500cc 6 volt car .the car does not have any allison badges but has a black hood emblem with a big letter M where the fuel filler would be.the dash is a little different.all the guages are all metric.i was told the car was built at the vw plant and sold with a warranty.
maybe someone seen another and can help me or maybe interested in
buying her.

Hmmmm,   Im' not a expert on the history of Allison and I wonder if this is really a Allison or a close copy.
Fred (Volvo Fixer)  might be able to shed some light on this considering he worked for Allison way back when. I haven't seen one like this one nor would I think VWAG would build it . I was working at Southland VW here in Chattanooga Tn. at that time and never saw any info on this buggy in any of the "inhouse publications" that we got from VWOA or VWAG that were loaded with info on new products . All this doesn't mean that VWAG didn't have a hand in something like this. I belive that some U.S. VW dealers did sell some Allisons sort'a on the sly as even VWOA frowned on deals like this at that time.
This is a mystery indeed. If this buggy is a real Allison, it has to be one of the earliest ones around.
It seems that Allisons are starting to pop up in a lot of different places all of a sudden.
Fred, help us out here if you can.
      :-k

Pretty interesting the way folks did their stripping.  Basic Allison with a twist.  I noticed that the front bumper on the "Long Nose Allison" was a straight across like yours. Was it extended or will it be just a close fit ?

If you are talking about the Allison without the front bumper, I don't think it is the original color. This Allison belongs to Fred Powell(aka Volvo-Fixer) who worked for Allison years ago.  I think this car was red
Fred doesn't get on-line very much. I wish he would. He is about the only person I know of who can shed any light on the history of Allison.
I haven't thought about Allisons in years and now they coming out of the woodwork all of a sudden. Im getting closer to getting my Allison on the road. Can't wait !!
