My "New" '70 Bug

Thanks.  Sure not as cool as some of your rides but it's mine and my first VW in about.

Just finished installing Dynamat in the car.  As of now, I believe all I like is installing the carpet and seats, hooking up a few wires, bleed and adjust the brakes and install the fuel tank.

Well...how do I start.  I'm very excited because I drove the bug today for the first time!!!!!  A friend and I bled the brakes this morning, installed some rear shocks and adjusted the clutch cable.  We then put about 6 miles on it and had no issues other than the stud sticking out of the adjuster on the beam scraped the road in spots.  It is low in the front.  Can't wait to come to the March cruise-in for the first time in a VW!

Looks good.
Did you soak it or did you spray it?
I hope it runs as good as it looks.
Cool,
KC

I mostly used a toothbrush and degreaser.  I did use some brake parts cleaner.  I didn't wanna spend the money on a gallon of carb "dunk".  It cleaned up great and absolutely runs terrific!  Before the rebuild it idled great but stumbled right after accelerating and then smoothed out well.  Now it runs great from start to finish.  Best thing I've done for my car so far!

I've gotta quit posting on here.  The old-timers tell all of my secrets.  It's called a secret for a reason.

Still got a few things left to do like get a 4-wheel alignment, install my secret horn, install lower back seat and hope my mom comes through with homemade denim seat covers.

  8)  That reminds me of a small piece of near useless information that taking up room where I need to be storing other stuff in my brain . . . Sometime in the 70's there was a special edition "Jeans" Beetle that had denim seat covers from the factory.  I don't remember what year it was though.
