I like it!  Just wish I had waited and bought an early model bug instead of my '73.

Thanks, ya'll! I've had a couple of old Beetles in the past but it's so much more enjoyable when it's not my only means of transportation (I have a New Beetle for that)! I can't wait to participate in some of your events. That (Volk Folks activities) was one of the big motivators for me to get this thing. I'm looking forward to meeting some of you "Folks"!

Thanks, Ovrdrve! The pic's make it look better than it really is but it's a great-running, fun little car. I almost set it on fire last night when I tried to cover that drafty speaker grill. The wiring and that "floating" fuse panel that I grounded out will get some much needed attention this weekend!

I bought the car just as it is. It appears to be a stock exhaust with some kind of aftermarket tips that get kind of wide coming out of the muffler. They look pretty sharp and seem to give it just a tiny bit of a racey tone...or it may just need a muffler.

Okay, I thought I would be able to post more pic's of my car :vw:  with my new roof rack that I would have gotten for Christmas :reindeer: . I guess none of those 9,000,000 hints   worked. Maybe next year :-({|= .

Yea, in a rond-about way, sort of. If you watched the auction, you may have seen that the seller came in half way through and added something like-"I've been told by a VW expert that this car is worth about $6,000.00". When he added that "info" I just sort of stopped watching it because I expected the guy to yank the ad when he saw he wasn't going to get that much. A couple of days later my wife, of all people, asked why I didn't bid on the car and told me that it had sold for $3,000.00! I was sick because that was my limit and pretty much exactly the car I wanted. After about a month I noticed that no feedback had been left by either party. I tracked down the buyer and asked how the deal went. He said that he couldn't come up with the cash and he thought the guy still had the car. He had checked the car out and said it was well worth the money. He got me in touch with the seller and we made a deal. He was from Macon and we met in Atlanta. By the time we got together it was almost dark. I do know better but I fell in love with the little car as soon as I saw it on the trailer. I couldn't see the floors very well, ran out of gas test driving it in the ghetto and bought it anyway.  What an idiot! The floors turned out to be much worse than expected but if I had known it I would have bought it anyway. It runs like a top and drives as good as any Beetle I've ever driven. I just wanted a decent looking driver and I'm really pleased with it. Heck, I even cleaned out my garage for it! Rick Swafford is planning to do my floors (and hopefully not heater channels) pretty soon. My family is looking forward to getting involved in some of the Folks events. Have you finished the front-end on yours? I check for pic's of it here daily.

I like your car. If you found it on eBay, I'm sure I saw it and may have even bid on it. Where was the car located? I checked eBay and the Samba every few hours for over a year and went all over the Southeast trying to find one. A good friend of mine is still looking if you know of anything pre'67. Have you gotten yours dropped yet? It's going to make it a totally different car. Mine's got  an adjustable beam with air shocks on the front. I had read that they (air shocks) were not the way to go and had planned on removing them but they're really no that bad. It was really low when I bought it (it looked good) but the front tires rubbed when Bugmike :snorting:  rode in it! I raised it about an inch and it rides and drives good.

It was ending the same night as your car, i bid on yours up untill the last minute and couldn't believe it didn't go for more.  I was out bid.  Mine came from maryville tn(knoxville) and i had to tow bar it home because the owner said the brakes need adjustment.  When i got it home i had to replace one wheel cylinder and a brake line.  The beam is ready i just need to pull the one out of the car and press all the link pin etc.  Check the classifieds, i posted one about a 65 a friend of mine has that would be a good start.
