Meet Myrtle, our 95 Cabrio GL

« on: November 23, 2010, 11:18:18 AM »
This car is a rebuilt car we got from our nephew (his parents were tough-loving him). There are separations/holes in the top's seam.  The headlights were different (really different after the car caught on fire with me in Cleveland one day.  That was fun.).  The rear window randomly rolls down (never back up, but now Rick diconnected the power for me).  The driver's seat needs to be recovered as the leather is torn.

The new top should be put on tomorrow.  Sucks that it's pouring rain today.  It's a manual top, thank goodness.  I was lucky enough to know Rick (our daughters are friends at school) and drove it by him to look at before I paid the ex-brother-in-law for her.  By reading many of your posts, I see that what we think of as a big deal; the top, fire, rear window is nothing by a true VW lover's standards.

It really needs new carpet which I know I won't be able to leave alone, but other than that it's great.  My nephew had an issue with it not starting periodically and his grandfather had it everywhere, but no one could find anything wrong.  Talked to Rick about the igintion coil - he said the original one is one there.  I'll switch it out whenever he has time to find a good one.

Thanks!  We've really enjoyed her so far.

The new top is on (and I love it) and I have a quote for new carpet and upholstry.  Those two items will be next as it runs pretty well right now.
