KC according to the registration it just says Beetle but checking it out closer it is a super but you have to look close and know what to look for. The one bad thing about it is that it is in such great shape that i really do not have anything to do on it.....  ;D. It was a great drive back in it from Alabama yesterday. Just cruzing down the highway and watching the traffic flying by !

Yes i am happy now. I do plan on leaving it alone when i figure out why my turn signals just went by by earlier and i can get the front hood open. The cable is not pulling correctly. I opened it yesterday a number of times and had no problem now it seems to be stuck. As for the lights there was a bad fuse on the far left side of the fuse panel and i replaced it and found a bad bulb at the bottom of the rear right light. So i am going back out now and se what can be done........

Did you slam the hood the last time ? Try to get someone to hold the the release down while you try to open it.

X2.
If the hood is off kilter, it will jam the little slide gate that is operated by the handle. Pull the handle sidways either direction while lifting up on the handle and see if that works.
I hope you do not have to cut the handle off that shiney paint job.

It's o.k.....

Everybody confuses early supers.  They assume that all of the super beetles had the big padded dash and curved windshields.  For 1971-72 they had a flat windshield, and the flat dash to go with it, just like a standard.  The big tip off to me was the chubby nose, like i told ya.  ;)  I always tell people, i don't car what the seller says, open the trunk and look in.  If the spare tire stands up, it's a standard.  If it lays flat, it's a super.   8)

My first beetle was a green '72 Super.  Fun car, and i drove the hell out of it in my college days.

Well i did get the hood open ok last night. It was stuck or what ever. I did not slam it closed. With a couple good pulls of the hood latch while the wife pushed the lever in the glove box it poped open. I may have to adjust it some. As for the blinkers i believe i have found the problem. When the old glove box tore apart opening the hood i noticed that the emergency flasher switch / relay top had come off. After i find one and replace that expensive part it should be ok i hope or i will be calling you Rick and bringing it over to the shop. I figure if you can get the wiring running good on that old bus of yours this should be a sinch.

As for leaving it alone i will be doing that. The only thing i am going to do now is put a decent radio in it. Just can not find any thing good on the original am radio.
