i havent been on this site for a while. i *sniff sniff* sold my 66 bug and bought a 71 bay. the interior is bare and a lil rough, but she purrs like a kitten. i plan on making a cruise-in or two and definitely next bugapaluza (if i can coax her into making it over Monteagle mountain)

It has a picture of itself. :D  Not a fan of the color but the idea is interesting. As long as it has less than 3 big screens I like it.It needs a big motor to be complete. Sorry for messin with ya in advance.

if i had it painted, that would not be my color choice, but i gotta admit i like it. i wouldnt have lowered it like it is either, but it can be reversed. the rear is sitting on the stops (that made for some interesting bouncing at 65 going over rough overpasses..LOL) i dont mind the 1600. yeah, its slower than dirt, but i dont  mind. i dont take it anywhere if im in a hurry. i never realized how much fun buses were to drive and own. the guy i bought it from said he could have the engine sitting on the ground in 20 minutes flat. im gonna test that theory soon as i have to replace the oil cooler seals. anyways, all opinions are welcome, favorable or non favorable.

Just givin you a hard time.Looks like a blast to drive,I'm sure compared to modern cars you'll find the maintenance pretty easy.

yeah, maintainance is one of the many advantages of owning any acvw.  you break down in your corolla, youre screwed. break down in a bug or bus, get out the electrical tape and pliers and your back on the road in 30..LOL.  that was another reason for getting this 71, i was already familiar with the type 1.

65dunebuggy,
the paint isnt that good in person. the way you see it is the way i bought it. i gave 3k for it.  i pulled engine to replace those seals and found i have bout an 1/8th inch endplay, so im prepping case to go to machine shop for alignboring. while he is in there, might as well go for some 90.5s and full flow.
