For my first post into your forum, this is my '57 that I just finished last August. I'm looking into taking it to several shows this year. Hopefully I can make yours, but most likely I'll have to trailer it and have the truck camper in the truck so we can make it a camping trip! Being a two day event will definately make my decision lean torwards going. It is, after all, a ten hour drive!

We would love to see it "up close and in person!" We'll do our best to make it worth the long drive.  8)

That's funny as I was talking to someone today and they said the last two years it rained on your show and from what he says it got pretty muddy out there! It sounds like some were muddy than others(vwgirl)LOL

I think most of the show is gonna be on the pavement this year. But i'm sure if you miss the mud we could turn on a hydrant or something so you can make your own mud pit.

For the time and money invested, also that it's 50 years old, not to mention the smooth ride. I'm not into long uncomfortable trips. I guess I'm getting old!

I understand that , its just a whole lot easier for me . I can clean my car at home. Plus all my junk i take with me wont fit in the bug. Im just about 2 1/2 hrs away and i still trailer it. The way i figure it I have a truck and trailer , Im gonna use it.

Well, I'll drive to Circle City(indy) 5 hrs, Old Fort(ft wayne, in)5 hrs, Metro(st loius)5 hrs. but since we do a lot of camping and that we have a truck camper, we can trailer it with the camper, big plus.

As for the mud . . . the big field we were renting in the past is in a flood prone area and if it rains all week before the show it can get pretty muddy Out of 6 shows we've held there, only 2 had any mud . . . and one of those (BP-6) wasn't really all that bad.  Last year was a different story.  It rained almost solid for 4 days and didn't stop until Saturday morning.  The weather turned out nice for the show, but the rain had already done it's dammage.  It rained out all the other events at the park that weekend, so they let us move onto the asphalt Saturday morning, but all of the campers and vendors driving around out in the field turned it into one big mud hole.

This year we have rented the whole park and not just the field.  Showing and vending will be on the asphalt, with grass as an option if you want to go in the field.  The field was 7 acres.  It was plenty big enough in the begining, but even without the mud factor, the field was getting way too small for out event.  Now we not only have asphalt, we have room to grow again!   8)
