sexual preference/orientation of the Mech/tech in charge of maintaining said machine

Hmmmm...... I don't know for sure but judging from all the bikini clad girls hanging around his shop I'd have to say he has positive hetero street credentials......... or maybe they knew I was coming by............

I bought it in Asheville, NC.  The guy turned out to be a real jerk though but that's another story.  I've had it for not quite a year and I have gathered different parts off and on from TheSamba to complete the project.  certdubtech is probably sick of seeing it in his yard.

It has just a little body work to be done under the doors and I want to put the roof back to original but other than that and the rebuild certdubtech is doing its very solid.

Thanks, I was just curious.  There was a tan "notch" in Cleveland for awhile.
As far as Rick goes I tried to raise him right. So far, so good

Oooops!  I didn't know I was speaking to his dad.  My respects to you sir.  You did the best you could with what you had to work with.

No I have to say Rick seems like he really knows what he's talking about when it comes to VW's.  The turbo boost and the jet propulsion he suggested we install should "give it that extra power it needs" according to Rick.

Not my dad...... more like a very crusty, old, grumpy bastard of that uncle that everyone knows is technically in the family, but they try to deny it....

Naw, David's not family, but i'd take him over many of my family members.  he was kind of a mentor, if you will.  I first started hanging around him after i realized the engine was in the back of a real car. 8)

Worked with him at Jim Lockhart VW, down on Rossville Blvd, downtown, in the scenic district.
Compared to His time under, On, and inside bugs, my 16 years seems pretty insignificant.

Oh, and before you say anything, let me, David....

I would be the nephew that was last spotted licking the back window of the short bus.  No, the bald one with the glasses... :D

Sounds like Tram from TheSamba.....

Good to meet you Ret.BugTech.  So why don't you experienced mechanics get together and open up a real VW shop in the area?  You could work on the aircooled and watercooled, which would support the business especially with VW moving in dext door.  Makes sense to me!  I'd even volunteer some time just so I could learn more about working on my own.

Nice to meet you.  Looking forward to seeing you at BAP11 with your Notch if you can get that Red Headed Stepchild to finish the job . Well he use to be redheaded now he is just headed. He would look cute on the TV show "Raw"
with his "Mothers" polish job on that dome of his.
I can't wait until he opens a shop so I can come and sit in a chair and make sarcastic comments as he works on W-8's. Every shop had a old fart that came around and got in the way. Pay backs are Hell and I'm here to tell you that I'm going to love telling stories how it use to be and  watch tears flow from Little Rickey's(Grass Hopper) eyes

Yeah Rick was recommended to me from someone off TheSamba.  I threw him a couple of curve balls I guess with my car being a Notch.  There were some parts that were a little different than the ones on a regular type III that he had never seen before.  I got him one part and said that all four would have to be changed.  I got a little concerned though because he asked me if I was sure there were four.............  I said errrr yes they're spark plugs.

We can all have faith in rick's repair abilities when the v8  w8  passat is all back together,  yikes,  i've never seen such a pile of parts,  and i make some good ones.  (replaceing the timing chains,  engine,  trans, suspension removed and disasembled)

I was just kidding.  I've never lost any sleep wondering if Rick was the man for the job.
