Annaleighs 1970 beetle

« on: August 14, 2012, 10:30:46 PM »
well she is been 16 for a while and i finley got the bug out has not run in some tine 2 to 3 years. 5 gallons of gas and new points and fuel pump finley got it started and no it would not iddle. but ran a little at 1/2 throttle.  and tried a shot in the dark.. ran the carb dry and then used fuel pump to fill carb with this stuff i bought at wall mart called b12 chemtool.  let sit for 45 min and reconnected all the fuel lines then started reved up a few times and it runs better than when parcked. now to get brakes back alive and replace all the fuel lines and teach her to drive a stic wish me luck. any bets when the new clutch will go in.

Looks great! It's amazing what a wet paint job will look like!

Good luck with teaching the stick shift, it's not fun...

Bugs are the easiest car to learn to drive on.   Brainerd High School use to have a drivers- ed track with hills and parking places.  I took my son over there with his '66 Bug and a 6pack of beer( for me) got out of the car with my lawn chair and told him to have at it. He knew where the gears were and about a hour or so he figure it all out. The track had plenty of grassy "run off" areas and couldn't get in trouble and I kept my sanity. To bad the track isn't there anymore and didn't turn into a Urban survival and shooting range.

Paint the rims silver (original color) and put some hub caps on the poor thing.  Please

Looking good! Hubcaps will make all the difference. It's amazing how much wheels or hubcaps change a car.

I think Alan mentioned to me that you can find it at O'Reilly's. I'm definitely thinking about picking up a can soon.
