A little water in the mix

Been a good long while since I've posted.  Here's a little update to a car that makes it's appearence every year a BAP.

Here she is back when I bought her on 00'

BAP6

Still have a few more things planned.  Might be able to finish them in time for BAP8.  Even if the car isn't ready, I'm at least making it to the show.

Mod List:

ATE Power Disk front rotors
Euro Spec Headlights
Euro Spec Smoked Turn signals
H&R Sport Springs w/Boge shocks & struts
55% Short shift kit
Poly rear control arm bushings
Konig Rated-R 16" rims

Improvement List:

Wired a relay system for the headlights
Converted stock ground wire to 02 guage
Converted all seats to factory leather (had cloth before)
Much buffing/polishing/waxing of the stock paint (a dying cause but I try anyway)

Thats all the major things.  I've been very lucky that I haven't had to do any seriously invasive work to her.  Untill now.  Over this winter she's getting a few goodies which will include a new motor, Euro Spec bumpers (shaves about 50lbs off the car) and some better shocks and struts.

Major goal is to have it turbo'd & repainted by spring 2007.  I'm just hoping I can get enough things done to get it to BAP this spring so that it doesn't have to miss a year.

New engine ?    Maybe you should put it the rear so it will be a proper VW
JUST KIDDING !!!!!!!!        Its not often that you see these Late Sciroccos look this great . About the time I retired, most of these cars that I serviced were just "Rag'd out". Its to bad VW didn't bring the VR-6 in sooner. It would have been just right for these Sciroccos and they could have gotten rid of those 35000 mile cam belt popping 16V's . What a mess!!!. You better keep a close eye on your belt. Trust me !
Your "critter" really looks good ! :thumbs-up:

Thanks for the kind words.  The timing belts are a real sore spot thats for sure.  I've replaced mine twice just to be on the safe side as the last thing I want is 8 bent valves.

I've seen some VR swaps into rocco's and man is it sweet.  I thought about it myself but after seeing a few, it noticed that to do any engine work at all, you had to drop the motor basicly.  I like having fun when I work on a car, but not that much fun. :D

As for the engine in the rear comment, while it's not exactly what you mean, check out http://www.durocco.com

Owners name is Anson and he's about as crazy as it gets.  Not the greatest fab-job, but it works and he has a blast with it.

Holy Moly !!   Maybe if I were 20 ! Maybe if I were 30 ! Maybe if I were totaly insane. Maybe If-------------.   It would take more than a case of
"Old Farten Slosh" to jump on that project.
If I remember correctly, VW-AG supported a twin 16V powered Golf back in the 80s to compete in the "Pikes Peak" hill climb. I never heard what became of that deal or how the car performed. I've seen photos of the car.

I think it's in the wolfsburg museam.  Along with two twin-engine scirocco's that were built.  A dual 8v and a dual 16v.   It's amazing that VAG not only thought about that sort of thing, but they actually built them.

Best of all on the Durocco project.  Anson did the project for $1,800.00  Thats less then what it's going to cost me to re-do the pans & interior in my Ghia. :?

Oh well.  Can't have it all I guess.

Can't have it all ?  All we can do is try.  Reminds me of a friend I had back in '60s while working for Southland VW here in Chatt. This was just before he was led off for a vacation at one of our state owned resorts. He said  "You can have it all. Just steal and cheat but never lie about it"  He ended up working a cushey job keeping up VW Ind. engines at Disney World. Go figure.
