Finally got a new ride to replace my bug. I'm at home but it stayed the night at a super 8 motel. Owned it less than an hour and the battery is dead. Ah and so it begins.........

Dang !!  I thought you were kidding when you said you bought a Dasher.  Well,  You buy them books, send them to school and they still eat the pages.

Nice type 34!  Not many of them around.  I haven't seen one in this area since Wolfgang Peter moved back to Germany.  ASBug was looking into trading his Westy for one a few weeks ago . . . wonder if this is the same one?   8)

Probably is the guy I got it from wanted a camper.Lived in Aragon Ga. The add is still On Samba. He shoulda jumped on it. The guy had a ton of t34 parts that I bought with the car. I havent drove anything aircooled that compares to it,very comfy and it will cruise at highway speeds very nicely.
I'm a fan.

I think I rebuilt Wolfgangs engine at Jims.  Didn't everybody just called him Wolfie, Wolfy, Wolkfey (ever how you spell it) ?

Wolfgang lived next door to a friend that Joy and I worked with.  It seems like Craig did call him Wolfie . . . but I figured it was just nickname Craig called him to his face, because he refered to him as Wolfgang when he wasn't around.     In addition to the type 34 he restored, "Wolfie" had a type 34 parts car.  He brought his nice one, before it was restored, to BP-1, then brought both of them to BP-2.  He also had 74 Super Beetle at BP-2.  He took the 34s back to Germany with him.  Some guy in Ringgold that owns a Karate place bought the Super. . . I still see it around from time to time, you can't miss it, it's black and yellow.  He also had a nice Corrodo he was trying to sell just before he moved back to Germany.

Anyway, I haven't seen a type 34 since he took his and went home.  Looks like a nice car . . . even if it does favor an early Corvair!

That has to be the same Wolfie.   He bought that T-34 off e-bay as a running perfect car and had it hauled here .He brought it to Jims because it wouldn't start . There was a little problem ,like the flywheel had removed itself from the crankshaft and had taken all the dowel pins with it and "hand fitted" itself into the transmission case where we had to use pry bars to get it out. What a mess !!. Ended up rebuilding the engine. Everything was worn out. I didn't know he had moved back to Germany .

I sold Wolfgang a bunch of the parts for that car and the Super back in my days at Mainly Foreign... 8)

Really cool guy, actually.  He bought a muffler set up from me once, laughed when he saw the box of hardware.  Said that a buddy of his still worked there (Hans Kolbenschmidt).  Cool guy.
