Hahaha... That's got to be it then.  I thought it was when I saw the broken fish emblem.  Funny how the memory banks light up sometimes.... and, for the record, I ran at request some harness and fuse to a switch on the dash many years ago... for what I have no remembering of now, but I have no idea on the other mess.  Cool guy, he was a customer of mine for many years/  I still work on his Mk4 Jetta from time to time.

He drove the heck out of that car between Whitwell and Chattanooga for work for years.

Pretty sure I used to service that car... (well, not service, but fixed it when it finally just broke from time to time.)  hahaha.

Did it come from Marion County before that lady bought it, Nick?

Wanda's car was a gasser if you were talking about that Golf.

Nope.. not her... and I do remember her golf, and the White Jetta as well...

This was a guy who works with the Chattanooga Fire Department.

Wanda's was totaled when she pulled out in front of someone.  That's how she ended up in the Jetta.

Any idea about how long ago it turned 136,679 miles?

And then the power dropped  :o :o Oh well...just make it to work. Checked it at lunch, still slow. Open the hood. Diesel everywhere!  :-\ Turn it back on to see the diesel coming out of the return line on the injector pump. When throttled up, it sprays all the way over to the battery. The oily mess is pretty well cleaned up now. Tried tightening it down with some tools I acquired at Matthews house after limping it over there. No go. Left it and got a ride.

I think its only a crush washer and maybe a new line. we shall see.

Turns out it was the supply line from the injector pump to the injector. Its a hard line with compression fittings on each end. The end next to the pump got a crack in it right at the base of the bulb shaped flare. New one should be here today.

So it is back up and running again. Turns out the HVAC blower works, but the a/c isn't charged. Got to looking at it and nothing is pressurized. I bought the conversion kit with all of the adapter ports, but the Golf seems to have the same sized ports (3/8" instead of 7/16" for the low side). No luck with the adapter pieces so I'm still trying to figure that out.

While I was under there, I noticed there were a few wires disconnected to the sensors next to the low side port right above the radiator. I plugged them in and now I have the thermostat working. Now that its working, it's saying its getting hot depending on if I'm idling or accelerating. The low coolant light is blinking too, but it is not. Car seems warmed up, but not boiling over when I stop to check it. I guess thats why is was disconnected? I need to find the original fan and shroud set up. Matt Sanders said he might have one that will work, so I'm gonna check with him.

I finally got the 'y' tube piece for the crankcase pressure relief into the intake sealed up really nice. Now the back pressure seems really high and a constant stream of oil pours out of the top of the dipstick tube. Needs new rings? I plugged the intake back and reinstalled the smokestack vent that was on it when I got it. Does this mean its time for rings?!?!

Other than that, its been fun to putt around in. I've enjoyed the crap out of it!

Drove the sh!tbox to work today. Running great!

I ended up pulling the 'y' tube back off the intake and plugging it up. They apparently had done that for a reason...

I managed to get the A/C system charged up and it blows sorta cool. It makes a god awful racket when you turn it on at idle but it quiets down at speed.

I bought fuel for the second time today. I forgot which side the fuel door was on and had to turn around.

Don't let that high pressure crankcase oil start heading for the combustion chambers. Guess what you have ?  How about 5 qt's of max
un-controable RPM's for a little while.  Not pretty

Would anyone be interested in this if I put it up for sale? I'm not driving much and the new job has me kinda busy, so it sits quite a bit. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it except it doesn't jive well with the new job having to visit job sites and occasionally haul materials. Just thinking its time to pass it along to someone if someone is interested.
