1964 Bus... progress being made

And a bit more.... repairing the crap circa 70s repair job is the nasty part.  like i said before, lots of sheet tin, lots of rivets, lots of bondo... but it's all gone now....

Nasty wrinkling of the bulkhead wall.  this was covered by the sheet metal.

Side completely cut out, all the nasty stuff gone.

Starting to lay in the donor side, rusty in the bottom section, but straight.

I guess there is hope for that old 66 bus I grabbed from Joe's Recycling just before it got hauled off to the crusher!  Probably has just as much rust, but it hasn't been patched or filled with bondo.

Yeah, she was pretty nasty on the driver's side and nose but the rest was really straight.  A little bit of rot, but for the going rate of a split camper these days, a fixer upper was more my speed.... and budget.
Besides, the price of aquisition was next to nothing, so i could afford to buy all the metal needed to fix it.  Nearly every panel to fix a split bus is being stamped out nowadays and The donor sections were acquired in trade for body repairs in the rear shelf area of another split window van.  It has all worked out quite nicely.
I figure by the time i get done with the major bodywork, i should have enough saved for paint and seals, and if i run out of money again, at least it can look pretty parked outside until i can afford to finish the rest.

Hey Raginvibe , I found out that "pile" was a Bus and was once made of metal. Don't cut "Grasshopper" any slack. Ever so often you have to do this to keep him under control  .

Ricks lil blue bug not so cute anymore.
The pan is at Ricks, JR has the front clip.........so after I get my stuff off it I think it needs to rest in Ricks back yard with the rest of my old junk.

It's been running honky... i'm just waiting for a break in the Seattle-esque weather so that i can get out there and fix the turn signals... the garage is kinda full at the moment....

Oh, and actually, the dodge looks like a pile of crap no matter what it's parked next to.
That's it's job.
