Yes, and made damned sure of what i was lifting it from, believe you me....

I had this mental image of it just folding up, me locking my tool box, and going home.

I guess your Boss is still wondering where your head is      Albert deAllison's floor pan looked worse than that but was much easier to deal with. With a labor rate of 50 cents a hour, how much do you think you have invested in labor so far ?   Don't lie

I dropped by Eurasian Auto this morning and made my donation to the cause.  Rick is well on his way to giving a big hunk of rusty metal a new lease on life.  I'm inspired now . . . NOTHING is too far gone to save.  There IS hope for my 66 Deluxe after all!  Now I've just gotta get a tetnus booster and learn to weld . . .   8)

I've been doing a little work on the drivetrain during lunch, before/after work....

Donor transmission from a 68 Beetle for the straight axle conversion, Offset modified Spring Plates......

Tore down the transmission, looked pretty good, replaced the rusty input shaft, replaced a broken shift fork (common stuff)....  Reassembled, re-sealed, ready to go in..... 8)

Are those plates guaranteed not to rip, stretch nor tear ?   I would almost be tempted to drill a couple of holes in each plate and install some really good bolts/nuts though those welded blocks to be safe :-k  I was wondering  how much torsional twisting the plate could stand before those welds gave way. You are correctt sir... they have been well tested and tried by numerous others, and the fabricator is one of the most skilled welders i have met. I wouldn't try it, in other words, but i'll trust him....
