WTB - Borrow a known good twin fuel pump relay.

« on: November 12, 2011, 09:03:07 PM »
I gave my last one to Eike when he bought the '74 transporter from me in June.
NOW, I may need another.  I just bought a '74 transporter that is turning over, but no sparky at fuel pump.
This was just a 5 minute laying in the dirt assesment, but I may need to buy or borrow a known good one to see if this is why the FP sin't pumping.
Thanks,
KC

I have a spare one, but it's questionable. Every now and then, the bus wouldn't start. I pulled the relay and took it apart, it had some corrosion on the inside, presumably where it sat mounted in the bus for so long but not hooked up because Richard had a carb on the bus when he had it. I replaced it with a new one and haven't really had any troubles since.

You can have the relay if you want (if I can find it), it may work for a diagnosis. I also have a couple of used fuel pumps that are probably good.

I have one, too. I know it works an if it doesnt you just have to tip it until it clicks. I was driving with that thing until 2 weeks ago. (I bought a new one :D ) Also the 914 came with 2 or 3 of those, but I havent checked them.

cool cool cool.
Thanks guys, I am going to get it home this week.  Going for the MBA is eating up alot of my time.  But, when I get it here I'll give it the once over.  Lotsa money spent on this engine in the last 2500 miles.  All terrain tires, can't wait to get it home and get it going.
The girls are excited, I need a middle seat if any one has one (just a want, the rear seat is great.  Also I need a driver's black door card.
Gonna get it running and look at some 15" alloys (on passat now...)
Excited,
KC
