Looks like it's under a carport to me, concrete floor with a mower next to it...
I might get it just to have a spare, but I think it is a different trans model than mine.

Except for small/big spline axles. Later mkII had 100mm axles.

I don't know, but I think I saw that the EARLY 5 speeds like in my '82 Rabbit Vert were geared differently than the latter Cabriolet 5 speeds...
I do not know, I just know that mine leaks out the final drive on the driver's side.
Any one want to help me pull the axle and fix it? Pretty please..

it takes a special tool to pull the output flange seal. but like Intrstllar said, the tranny should work for you.

You can change the cups from 90 to 100mm and vice-versa. And any trans from a MkI or MkII will work, as long as you have the correct cups. As far as the gearing goes, there were quite a few different variations, the code will tell you which is which.
