Homer didn't get the Creative Car Craft tin (actually fiberglass) . . . his engine bay got hacked out with a sawsall, then a piece of tin was fitted and cut to the shape of the type 1 engine and a rubber flap was riveted to it for a seal. After a few years, (10 or so) the rubber fell apart . . . I'm using a pool noodle for a seal now. It had a home-made mustache bar bolted to one of those oil pump cover brackets . . . eventually put in a motor with the correct block, but the block got cracked when I bottomed out on a pothole. Ever since, I've run it with no bar . . . and no problems.
My recomendations are USE THE CCC FIBERGLASS . . . it uses stock, off the shelf seals all around and leaves the option of going back to a type 4.
Forget the mushdache bar. It'll be fine without it. If you put a high HP engine in, maybe it would be needed, but for a stock 1600, it's a waste of time and effort.
Don't hack up the wiring harness. Try to leave everything so you can go back to a type 4 if yoiu ever wanted to . . . .
The number one recomendation if you do this is, Don't be in a hurry to get to your destination. It will get yoiu there eventually . . .
