Find out if he wants the AS shifter rod.  I would like to add it to my ever growing collection of AS parts.
Thanks,
KC :D

I don't think that would be a problem.

Cool,
Let me know if and when he'll part with it and I'll come to the batcave and get it from you.

Didn't the rod change length about '72?  Seems like it got 40mm longer . . . or maybe 40mm shorter.

I'm not sure about that but I do know that the Auto-Stick was shorter. The shift rods didn't cause any trouble that I recall except the bushing or the bushing carrier or coupler would wear out or break. The rod would be OK for the life of the car.
The one I'm looking for is for a '73 std. bug.  Just in case there is a long or short one.

This has been about 15 years ago, so I may be dreaming some of it up but it seems like when we were trying to re-assemble a 71 Beetle I bought as a basket case, it was missing the shift rod.  I think the one I put in it came out of a 75 chassis I bought for the tires . . . and I had to have a buddy of mine cut the end of it off, shorten the rod 40mm and weld it back on.  Again, it was a long time ago so I could be wrong on what the rod came out of and what it went back into, but I know it had to be shortened and I'm pretty sure it was 40mm.
