Nevermind,  I got one at Humbuckers in Fort Olg.  It a cool store and the owner and the workers there are cool.
TYhe Bass we got is made by Dean  called and Edge 4.
2 pickups, pearl enlaid, has a preamp in it, grover keys.
It was $260 with tax,  set of strings and a bag case for it.
My 17 year old likes it.  I like it too.  Now I got to learn Super freak

I wanted to go to pickers exchange but I forgot were it was.  Is it by the Comedy Catch?

I went to LM and they pissed me off and the guitar exchange at Hammilton place was a mad house but was pretty cool with 10 different kids playing diff heavy metal sanogs all at the same time.

I just love to go to loud music stores.
It doesn't matter if you have 2 - 50 kids wailing away with different heavy metal noises.  It all sounds like a car crusher/ shedder that need a lot of TLC. I have always wondered why a person would spend a ton of money for really nice "Axe" only to add "stuff" to make it sound like "Playtime in Iraq"
Rap stuff is not as easy as you think . You need a 2x4 with 1 string and a pick-up, LP turn table that doesn't make one revolution and be able to hold a mic in one hand, "Do the Walk" from one side of the stage to the other, Speak in a monotone voice for 5 min. without taking a breath, speak in a unknown tonque and all the while fondling your crotch. Now there is real talent and you could get most of your equipment at Home Depot and not the "High price" music store.
Anthony, What would a lead sheet look like for Rap Crap ?

As for metal guitar playing pedals are for wusses. I keep em to a minimum. Maybe a whah pedal or volume. And some of that stuff makes playing an acoustic look easy. It's all hard either way. As for rap I dunno and I dont wanna know.

No,No!  SC.  It would be more like a 6-Pac and Green -T with a Grassy Flair. I'll stick with " Grass" , Eagles, Journey, CSN, Buffet, etc etc.
Wah-wah pedals interest me if they are done on a old "Strat" and Issac Hays writes the score (aka- Shaft ).
Volumn "pot" needs to have a  range of  0-.02 for heavy metal and a Power failure or at least a Mute switch for Rap Crap.

What do you mean 'We" white man. The word "pot" has been around long before you learned to sit on one. It really doesn't make a lot of difference what brand your electric axe is. It is all in the eletronic stuff.
You could put 12 strings and some good electronics across a toilet seat and possibly have a great sound. I saw this very thing happen on a Nashville demo session with none other than Mr. Atkins in control. We were all rolling in the studio floor.  The thing was custom made by my Buddy Mike Longworth who was in charge of R&D at Martin Guitar. The thing was painted bright red.

Maybe ,maybe not. I agree the quality of the electronics gives you most of your sound But show me a strat that has the sustain of a Les Paul.  Ain't gonna happen. And on top of the thin bodied sound of a Fender the single coils just sound plain twangy.

Take away all the elctronics and get down to acoustics and I think you know better to say that what kind of wood it's made of has no difference in the sound. Then theres the bracing and so forth all effect sound on an acoustic. Say the x bracing of your dear old Martin that gives it that punch versus Gibson bracing that lacks that punch but has a little more on the bottom end.

So if you think about it yeah electronics make a difference but the wood and construction do have an effect even on even an electric. I'm pretty up to snuff on the workings/wiring of electrics.I'm sure you can chicken pick circles around my novice playing .But I'm pretty sure I can wire Two  4 conductor humbuckers with coil taps, and reverse phasing ala Jimmy Page pretty dang fast.

Yeah I know pots, like 500k cts pots?Or maybe them 250k Fender type?Long shaft or short how do you want em? Wants some tone caps with em?Bumble bee's,white tigers, black beuties,Hovlands?

My luck you probably know as much about guitars as you do volks wagens. I know a little mostly what I've learned being around the club, don't amount to much. But I'm more than educated on electric guitars and I even know a little about them big wooden ones too.

well enough harrassment for now I'm sure this will get you going.

I can't arque about what makes a elec. guitar sound like it does .
This I can tell you. Say you hear a Dude playing a Gibson elec. and you fall in love with the sound and you want one just like it so you buy it ,but when you get home, plug in and dang thing doesn't sound the same. You let your buddy try it and it sounds even different from when you were playing it. It all comes down to the style and touch that one person has thats different from another.
This also works with acoustic guitars. I went through a bunch of Gibson guitars ,J-45 , J-50, and even a huge J-400. These were all good acoustic boxes but they didn't have the sound I was looking for. I was into Bluegrass and Gibson just didn't have as we called it, the "ring" or snap that all Martins have no matter what model they were. It was just a matter of volume. Even my big J-400 couldn't hang in there with a Martin.
My D-18 is very sweet sounding, but can not compete with my D-35 in volume. I'll stack my D-35 against any Gibson on "bottom end". The really good thing about Gibson over Martin is the "neck" . I think the Gibson neck is much faster plus being ajustable.
The weird thing out there is the "mom & pop" guitar makers that are making low production "boxes" that will blow a lot big names off the map.

I knew you would bring up the touch/style thing. And as usuall you are 100% correct. I read some music and when I try to play it it doesn't sound right. It does come down to the way you note it or mute the srtings, how you pick etc.... And just for support Edwards is now making a darn good Les Paul for a fraction of the cost alot of big name have started using them onstage so that'll tell you there pretty good.

The bottom line is to develope your own style. How many times has a person come up to you and say :  Why don't you learn to play like Chet Atkins, Jimmy Hendrix, Stevey Vaughn etc.etc.  I would just tell them, "Why would want to do that" They already have those Guys (this was back when they were still kicking).
I had a friend tell me a long time ago that a style of playing is called "Your Signature"  Nobody else has it and nobody can duplicate it no matter who trys .

There was an error while liking
