You could strip off all the spare stuff you could get off, cut the top off and still get $150 for the rest.  It's a real win / win.
Good luck,
KC

I'll have to check and see what we can afford first. If we get the whole car, I'll need help towing it as none of our cars can tow. Looks like it's about a 3 hour car trip one way. If he parts it out and we just end up buying the roof, I'd need someone who can help me cut it off, either with a sawzall or a plasma cutter or laser or something. And probably a truck bed to haul it back in. You can't fit much in a TT or a New Beetle. :)

Thanks again!

Those wheels look like they might be worth nabbing too. I'll wait a few days and then email him to inquire about the roof and wheels.

Look down on the bottom of his Samba.  Somebody needs to get that GR-15X gen and the German muffler. That re-man from Bosch is the best gen you can ever have hands down. $75 is a steal.

I might could help either way. That is a long drive, but I could be convinced!

I have sawzall, cutting torch (no laser or plasma, yet!). I got a pick up and can possibly tow. Depending on when you would need it, I might be a lot closer anyways! I plan on heading to NC in middle of October and will be up where I-81 cuts off of I-40 so it might only be 30 or 40 north of there, but I'll have to work out what to do with a trailer... we'll see.

Russ / Nick,
This is Hugh....I have a pick up, access to a tow dolly but not a car trailer...they can be rented a U-Haul for $70.00 for the day. If you want to go on a Sunday, I can be available.

Ideally I would like to bring home just the roof and maybe wheels. I don't have a place to store the whole car so hopefully a tow dolly or trailer won't be needed.

He had already sold the car by the time I contacted him. :( He did say there's a chance he's getting another notch to part out soon though, and I told him to contact me when he does.

Alright, he wrote me back with another Notchback his buddy has. Says it's straight and solid on the roof, we could have it for $150.

That one looks pretty nice, Russ.  Does he mean $150 for the whole car, or is he gonna remove the roof?

I can't cut up cars at my place anymore now that I am in the Signal Mountain town limits.  But, might be able to help elsewhere with a bit of slice and dice effort.   :)
