ATL. Pull-a-part Pic.s

« on: February 20, 2008, 09:18:50 PM »
I went to ATL. today to the Conley Pull-a-part where they have 8 Beetles, 3 Ghias, and 2 Buses.  Both buses burned, 1 much worse than the other.  The Brown one has a Scat shifter and whats left of some VDO gauges.  There was some solid rocker shafts with rocker arms that had swivel feet adjusters laying under it and what was left of a IDF in the back.  There was 3 engines left and I think they all had transaxles but the white bus.  There was 1 auto stick bug in the pack.  Don't know if this is the right place for this post but I thought someone may need some parts.
Rick.

WOW!  I can't believe they've got that many air-cooled on the lot at once!  I went to the Atlanta (north) pull-a-part last year. They only had one air-cooled, but there were a bunch of water-cooled VWs.

If you've never been to a pull-a-part yard, it's an experiance!  I didn't find any VW parts I needed, but I came home with a handfull of relays and switches for my 88 Buick Reatta and a complete 1.6L fuel injected Mazda engine all for under $150.  And by complete, I mean complete . . . From the pulleys to the brackets to the motor mounts . . . the intake with the fuel rail and injectors, the exhaust manafold . . . every cover . . . everything.  Complete.  We just finished installing it in my son's Mercury Tracer and it runs like a champ!  If I had bought the relays and switches for the Reatta new, they would have been over $150.

If everything works out, I might be taking a trip to the Knoxville pull-a-part Saturday.  They have a 96 Passat.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's white and has two good doors on the drivers side . . .

Yeah, the pull-a-part is cool!  There is 2 Passats at the north and 2 at the south Atl. locations.  South is the one I usually go to but they only had 2 bugs last weekend.  There web site is cool too, easier to use than the phone even.

pullapart.com is their website. Just select the Atlanta south site and it should give you the address and phone number.

Oh yeah...they will let you do just about anything.  In most cases if it's a heavy item they will even carry it to the front with the forklift or bucket loader.  There are wheelbarrows, for you to carry tools and parts, and all their prices are set regardless of vehicle make or model ie. 4cy. engines $89.99 (long block) and transmissions $75. You can even get lifetime warranty for all parts! Just don't go looking for a gas tank, they punch a hole in all of 'em.
