NEW "crate" engine, 1200cc 36 hp single port engine, has been in storage for many years, was bought new for project that never got finished before the gentleman died. Does turn over is not stuck, complete long block, never even had oil in it (see pictures) and has never been in a car, still brand new. Perfect for you early bug, karmann ghia or even bus, would also be a good trike engine. easy swap for your project just add accesories and go, save alot of money on having your engine rebuilt just buy new. These engines are between $1,400 and $1,600 like this. get it now highly discounted. Really just need the room has been stored long enough. Could easily buy 1600cc piston kit for this engine and still save a ton of money versus buying a 1600 new or rebuilding one for that matter. Again still a new motor asking $650 obo prefer text, if i miss your call please leave a message with phone number, please no calls before 3pm, thank you 423.298.3102

But . . . som'n ain't right about it.  No generator stand and doesn't seem to have a place for the oil cooler.  The block looks like it might be in three pieces.  Early Porsche maybe?

I haven't seen one like this. It should have a engine #. I would like to look at  that one.

I'd say it either a industrial engine or what I think is very likely an airport engine. No fuelpump ect... ??!

The book I have on Industrial engines show that all of them look like a auto engine except the Ind. engines had a gov speed control  and a magneto . I'm like you ,it may be a converted engine for a  homebuilt aircraft. As far as the fuel pump goes you can not see the original position due to the angle of the photo.

AH!! Its back and it still will not work in a car.  I sure would like to know what the purpose of this "Thing" was/is.   It doesn't look like any kind of industrial rig that I have ever seen and I have seen a lot.  It would be fun to send some photo's to Wolfsburg and see what they have to say. Those poor little engines were hung on about every kinds ??? "stuff" you could think of . Right now its a parts engine and I'm not even sure about that.  Nuts/bolts might work.

Does the normal 1200 have that large spacer on the crank like that?

No. I have no clue to what that thing is .  The 25hp and 36hp  auto engine uses a seal like the 1600 only smaller in dia.
