1966 Porsche 912 Motor, Turnkey Rebuilt

« on: October 29, 2012, 01:56:35 PM »
Up for sale is a complete turnkey Porsche 912 motor from a 1966. This motor has zero miles since rebuild. It has new crank bearings, rod bearings, cam bearings, new piston rings, and rebuilt heads. It has been started and ran, but was never installed back into the car after being rebuilt. I bought the car along with the motor, but have since sold the car and have no use for the motor. I did not rebuild the motor, the previous owner did. I do not have any receipts from the rebuild nor do I have any other information other than what I have already provided. Again, the motor runs well and is very responsive. I believe it has been rebuilt for around 4-5 years, it is very clean. I have a video of the motor running if interested. Other than the carbs needing tuned/synced, this motor is ready to install and run. It does have a set of 40mm Webers, header, and a 009 distributor, but everything else looks to be original. Price is $3,200 FIRM. (Please do not respond asking if I will negotiate on price) This is very cheap, but I would like to sell as I have started a new project and have no use for this motor right now. I also have a set of rebuilt 356 heads, and a set of used 86mm big bore pistons and cylinders (in very good shape) I have for sale that I would do a package deal with the motor if someone is interested. It may be a while before I purchase another Porsche, so these parts are for sale at a good price.  931-808-6598

Cool engine.
What are the dimensions v/s a VW 1600 T1 block & heads?
Never seen one in the flesh and just curious.

Like a Type-1. It will fit into a Beetle just fine . The carbs are the only "tight" problem , just like a VW with duels. I owned a '56 beetle with this same engine and at one time had a Porsche Normal(single zenith carb) in my long gone Manx. Man!! What a horse. The heads are totally different than the VW. They were semi- hemi with BIGGG valves.  Bugs love to run with these little gems.  If it runs as good as it looks, its a good price .  Tough as nails also. The original carbs were Solex.
