1958 Bus @ Pull-A-Part

« on: January 02, 2010, 09:51:49 PM »
I went to Atlanta today to get some parts off a 95 Passat they put on the lot New Year's Eve.  It looked like the bones of a gazell on the African Savannah after the lions, hyenas and buzzards had 3 days to pick it clean!  The other VWs I looked at seemed to have suffered the same fate.  After deciding there was nothing I needed in the foreign car section, I spent two hours of wandering around in the GM section and finally found a good passenger seat for Carla's 93 S-15 Jimmy.

Before I left, I went on a hunt for the "1958 Vanagon" they had listed.  After seeing what Rick is doing with his double-cab, this thing isn't "that" bad . . .

That's the problem with Pull-A-Part . . . they don't sell whole cars, only parts from them.  Other than the suspension and glass, just about everything that can be remove has been removed.  I would say it's too far gone to think about saving . . . but I've seen your double cab, so maybe it isn't!

If you want to talk to them about it, Pull A Part's # in Atlanta is 770-242-8844.  The bus is at the "Atlanta South" yard and is listed as a 1958 Vanagon . . . it's sitting in their "old cars" section (row 100) and it's been there since December 9th.

Thanks, Zen.  I'll see what i can do.  If nothing else, might be nice for the beam and stuff for cores....
