WANTED:  Rabbit Pickup - Needs to be CHEAP!

« on: May 16, 2002, 08:25:20 AM »
If anyone runs across an old Rabbit Pickup in halfway decent shape and it's cheap, please let me know.  I'd really prefer a diesel, but a gas engine will do if it's cheap enough.

Thanks!

WANTED:  Rabbit Pickup - Needs to be CHEAP!

OK, forget the pickup . . . I just cut a deal for two more Beetles.  One is a solid mostly original 68 autostick (I'll be the 4th owner) and a fairly solid 73 (needs some cosmetic attention but runs and drives good).  I'll have the either the 73 or my Baja (with the 73's engine) for sale soon but even after it's gone, I've still gained another car.   :oyvey:

I was looking around the yard this evening and it finally clicked that I MIGHT have enough projects as it is.  I've got my 63 Bug that for the last year has been a carborator and two tires from being on the road . . . I've got my Manx and almost everything I need to put it on the road . . . I've got my old 69 Bug that needs a heater channel and frame head . . . I've got my 69 Baja that I stole the engine from to get my bus on the road . . . I've got the 74 Sun Bug that needs, well I guess it needs about everything . . . I've got a 71 Super Beetle sitting in my Mom's yard that needs as much as the Sun Bug plus an engine.  I've also got a rusty 67 bus that I plan on blowing my next lottery jackpot restoring.  Then there's this 73 bug body on a 67 chassis sitting in the back yard too.  And there is another 68 chassis sitting in the garage.  Oh, and there's a 75 sun roof Super Beetle that doesn't belong to me in the garage too.  I've got a 71 Westy parts bus sitting over at Kyle's house and 2 more parts buses that I haven't picked up yet.  On top of all my VW projects, I've got my daughter's Eagle Summit that needs some transmission work and my Buick Reatta that needs some brake work out back to.  And two of my jack stands are tied up under my niece's 65 Mustang (also in my back yard).  Anyway, like I said, it hit me tonight that I probably don't really need to get into any more projects right now.  Especially since Joy has been after me for over a year to get her convertible painted . . . and I'd kind'a like to get my bus painted (I was going to get that out of the way last weekend, but Wal-Mart was out of glass chalk).

Now in October the lease is up and we can return our Jeep Cherokee, so with that parking space freed up, I'll probably be looking for a pickup again.  But for now, I think I'd better concentrate on thinning down my collection, not adding to it.  :spank: NOT THAT JOY HAS TOLD ME I HAD TO GET RID OF SOME OF THEM OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT :spank: I've just totally run out of space!    :spank:  :oyvey:
