It has a vacuum leak. But it also has a cat fault with an aftermarket cat on it.  It would be great for someone who does not live in Hamilton co,  I will prob order some stuff from Hans auto parts,  I think it is the auction pump or the turbo valve,  I have been driving it this week and the Ac works

It's an external waterpump big valve head, they are nice to put into the 1s and 2s because you an use the factory mount bosses and it requires no fabrication to get it sitting in the car. In stock form they are terribly underpowered, chip tuners hate them and charge you accordingly. But if you were to buy it to cut up it makes a nice motor in a lighter chassis. If you do put it in a 1/2 chassis you need and aba block to source parts from as well.

I sold a complete engine swap out of a 98 last year w harness ect for about half of what you have the whole car listed for. You could easily part it out and be money ahead I would say.

I agree with that!  LKQ sells 1.8t's with high mileage for 1500-1800 and that's just for the engine, you never get the turbo or harness and that's not to the public just shops, not to mention timing belt and components and everything else it takes to make one run. The car looks pretty good really, running and driving and you don't have to worry about a $1k timing belt job. The only suck thing about a part out is having a place and the time to pull it down and let it sit and sell off all the money parts.  My ADD prevents me from being able to invest the time needed for that ;D ;D :P

The first step to recovery is admitting that you have a problem...

Of course, like myself, Travis you have not denied this for the many years I have known you....  :D :D :D

When I look back ( nearly 50 years now) on some of the antics I have done with VW's all I can say is " What in the hell were you thinking  ??"  Like Linda told me "Never say never"   I wonder if Dr.Phil would have something to say about this cronic illness.  He would probably say "Go buy a  Chevy Volt"  but then he would be run over by a covey of Bugs when he left the studio. I wouldn't want that on my conscious ;D ;D ;D
