I think he's asking $3,000.00obo.
I just hope he doesn't "clunker" trade it for a new KIA! If so, Obama will crush it and send it to China so they can make more weapons-in-waiting for us!

I'm really convinced that there are soon-coming regulations that will make it against the law to drive these cars. I've been watching this "green" garbage lie very closely for about 20 years (especially where vintage cars are concerned) and I'm convinced that we're within a couple of years of losing them. If this socialism-pushing bunch makes it a law (and they will), there's no "law-makers" to the right with enough backbone to stand up to them. We should absolutely be good stewards of this planet but it's a religion to these boobs! Maybe I shouldn't be so concerned so someone let me know when we need to start worrying.

No politics there . . . just state'n facts.    Like he said, nothing's safe . . . not even this thread!    But, yeah, this was a thread about a Squareback in Ringgold wasn't it.  Anyone have any pictures of it?

This is not "politics", this is preservation. I love vintage autos, as I'm sure most members do, and I know for a fact that there is a concerted effort to destroy any vehicle that doesn't measure up to government "standards". Maybe I only speak for myself, but it would seem to me that an important part of ANY vintage, collector, specialty car club would be to preserve what our passion is for. I didn't mean to offend anyone by pointing out some facts about a threat to my hobby (and property). Most every collector auto publication regularly tries to educate their readers concerning these threats and I doubt if any are offended by it. If I've broken a club rule, I apologize, I will withdraw my membership immediately. I will not take it personally and I hope I can remain friends with my fellow car nuts. The main reason that the collector car enthusiast's days are numbered is because we didn't speak-up before it was too late.  The only candidate that I support here is the VW lover.

I totally agree with your every word. I don't think our VW's qualify for the "clunker" rebate anyway. We get over 18 mpg on the average. If you get less than that ,you need some help. I don't think you offended anybody. Why would you think you did ?   Besides that ,$3,000 is more than I'll pay for a Square Back

My '84 S-10 qualified for the rebate.  Uncle Sam told me it got 18 MPG combind City/Highway.   :?  He also said it was worth $4500 towards a new TDI Jetta.  :o That all sounded pretty good and I really considered it . . . BUT, right now I've got a truck that was "free" (free=Nothing down, spend $1000 and work on it for 6 months, then start driving it).  I've put over 12000 miles on it and it's still going strong.  I can haul gravel with it, haul tools with it, pull well pumps out of the ground with it, carry my Beetle kiddie car around with it, and drive it anywhere I want to go . . . and all I have to pay for is gas.  I don't have a car payment, I don't have to have full coverage insurance and my ad valorum tax is less than $5.00 a year.  :D  I'd loose a lot by trading it in (no more towing VWs or pulling up well pumps), I'd gain a car payment, I'd have to have full coverage, and my tax would likely be over $500 a year to begin with.  All I would gain would be air conditioning and a back seat.  I'll just keep my truck and Uncle Sam can keep his $4500 . . . he needs it a LOT more than I do anyway!   Maybe I'll buy the Squareback and fix the air on my truck . . .
