How many times have you seen this comment in ads for old VWs?

hasn't been started in a while, but it did run last time i parked it.

  So what, is it out of gas?  :?  Must be, he left it running the last time he parked it . . .      OK kids, here's a tip.  Put a battery in it, put some gas in it, start it.  Change the ad to "I haven't driven it in a while, but it still runs!"

Most folks looking for an old VW don't really care what it used to be or what it used to do.  Heck, it used to be brand spanking new and have a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty on it.  That doesn't mean a hill of beans now!  If you want top dollar for your car (or you just want to get it out of your yard) tell people what it IS, not what it was or what it might be.

Sorry . . . just had to get that off my chest.     Come to think of it, I have an autostick bug in my back yard that was running the last time parked it.  I wonder if a Rolls hood would make it worth $1400?

Zen, That pretty well covers it.   Yep, it has a brand new rebuilt engine, I think in 1959. Well,  Is it a brand new engine or a rebuilt engine ?  I don't remember ,but it was running when I parked it back in 1963. Look how clean the oil looks still .   How come it hard to turn the engine ?   Well, You know those new engine are a little on the tight side.  All you have to do is drag it down the road in gear and it will free right up.
