OK,
I have made an executive decision to actively sell / trade the '72 ASBug.
I have had this car for 4 years and it has been a blast, but I want to focus just on the RHD 1302 and possibly get a thing next year for minor off roading and the convertable aspect.
I can work options on the ASBug to get the Price down to the $2300 range.
@ $2300 you get the car minus the roof rack, empi air intake, fog lights, rear safety reflectors, Saphire X am / fm (I have a plain AM that works sometimes if you want) and the practically new tires and aftermarket wheels. You will still have the Orig. Spare, '77 fresh air fan box, and all the other small stuff I cannot remember.
I will give you a set of steel wheels with decient 165 R15 tires, will get you through the next little while, but are not new.
If there is any interest, let me know. Car is driven every 3-4 days now and runs out good, Lotsa new stuff over the past 4 years: carb, heads, ehaust, all fuel lines / vacuum lines, Fuel pump, All Brake components - ALL, clutch servo, genny, volt reg., this car is still running the recirc vapor system.
Painted 3 years ago, looks good. Has orig carpeting, and VW rubber floor mats, upholstery is in pretty good shape, back seat is a little baked, but not split or any thing, front seat are Very good.
If you cannot / will not drive a stick shift this is the car for you (or your significant other.) This car is an odd / semi rare car, ASticks were only offered from 1968 - 1976 and the best estimate (
www.VWAR.org) is that only 4% of the total # of Ghias and Beetles produced during this period had this trans from the factory. There were only 2 Autosticks at BAP last year, Me and a older lady from Acworth area... The year before there was only me. (registered cars.)
Car will also come with a complete AS set up for parts (I have never needed any off of it) You could litteraly set a stick shift up as an AS with this set up, every thing including the shift rod is included. The engine is the Correct AE block produced the same month as the car and I am 99 44/100's sure it is the Orig engine (I put new heads on it.)
Car has ORIGINAL floor pans, no rust in rockers or heater channels...
Car has the orig front end with 101K on it ( nI have put 17.5 K miles on it in the past 4 years), the dampener, and the shocks (front and rear) were replaced with german ones 4 years ago. Tie rod ends are original and will need to be replaced in the next year or so. Not scary or shakey, just a little worn and looser than new. All electrical is as new and not hacked. Fog lights were put in w/o putting one cut in the harness and work off of a switched relay tied to the parking light circut.
Now that I have decided to sell, the car will not be here long, I tend to sell / trade alot of VW's. I have had this one the longest of any VW I have ever owned.
I'll leave every thing on the car but the real VW roof rack for $2900.
Rack is going on the Jap RHD beetle.
If any one has a specific photo need or a question, just post it here, and I'll post the photos here for all to see.
If any one wants to see it up close I
CAN drive it to the cruise in tommorow, but I am planning on driving the RHD as of now so let me know. early enough to swing by and get it out of the garage.
